According to this legend, a school of determined Koi swam upstream against the powerful currents of the Yellow River, facing treacherous rapids and waterfalls. It was said there were only a few Koi successfully overcame these obstacles, and transformed into dragons, ascending the Dragon Gate and achieving mythical status.
